The BB1 Supermono was first unveiled at the Motor Show in Cologne in 1994. It was produced from 1995 to 1997.
The BB1 is fitted with a 1 cylinder Rotax 650cc block supplied by BMW. Therefore the name BMW - BIMOTA 1. The engine has two overhead camshafts, four valves and two spark plugs that are resposible for a very good combustion. The standard version shown here produces 48HP at 6500 rpm which is mated to a 5 speed gearbox and has a top speed of 183 km.
The incredibly beautiful and light aluminum frame is like the rear fork of the Oval Section Technology system. In addition, it is quite remarkable that the BB1 the fuel tank is placed below the engine. In 1994 groundbreaking there through this arrangement center of gravity became very low. The lowest ever, and nowadays still very exclusive. The suspension- and damping system is Paioli and brakes are from Brembo, the wheels were both 17 inch Antera as Marchesini.
To participate in the Sound of Singel class (SOS) Bimota produced a total Race kit for FL 10.000,-. This was 725 cc and produced 75 hp and had a double front disc brake, titanium exhaust and magnesium wheels.
The Race replica's present with us and shown here (number 74 and 76) have double front disc brake, pump Gold line circuit, exhaust with mufflers. With the K & N air filters they deliver 62HP and are painted in the tricolore colors. The total number BB1 Supermono's is 524 of which 376 BB1 Supermono in shades of red and gray, 148 Biposto's in blue
